Hey guys!
Over the past couple of months I've been trying to find a matte (red) lipstick that is not high end and doesn't break the bank for a drugstore lipstick!
The one I've been looking at now for a while is the sleek; stiletto lipstick which is the perfect red cheap matte I've been looking for... Now the only problem is, is that every single time I have gone into my local Superdrug they are ALWAYS sold out! So while I'm waiting for it to come back into stock and for me to finally get my hand on it, I have been doing some research as to how you can turn a normal shiny/glossy lipstick into a matte texture!
I've tried many different things out and none of them have given me the effect as to what this one technique has done and it's face powder... Strange right? But it works!
If your looking to do this you don't want to use many random type of face power because different ones can change the colour of your lipstick depending on your skin colour and what you use.
I'm going to show you what I mean by showing you a before picture of my lips really shiny and the after effect of the powder!
The lipstick I'm going to be using is MUA; Shade 3. It's a very bright hot pink colour which I think is stunning up against a tanned skin tone. I'm not very tanned but then again I'm not really pale!
Here is the before picture;
Sorry for the bad quality and how the texture looks on this photo as i started to take pictures the skies turned grey and the rain started pouring :( |
Once you have applied your chosen lipstick you need to take a fine translucent powder which you can then dab onto your lips. For this I'm using the ELF; high definition powder which is a fine white dusty powder which you can see from the picture before!
Once you have your powder ready it time for you to dab it all on your lips! For this I'm going to be using my finger to apply to save getting lipstick on a brush which I would then have to wash for the next time I wanted to change the colour up. (I'm lazy like that and it saves the brush from getting too damaged from over washing)
Take small amounts and gently tap on the lips, you don't want to rub on the lips because depending on the formulation of the lipstick it could cause little bumps to form and make your lipstick look awful.
Once you feel like you have applied a generous amount onto your lips it should start to look a little less glossy and it should look something like this!
again not another great picture but you can get the overall idea of what it should look like and what it does! |
This little technique is just for the time being i am looking to get the matte lipstick from Superdrug but for now this will do as a little trick to get me by!
Thank you for looking and i hope this little tip will help you!
Don't forget to check back soon for some reviews!
Take Care x
