Orange Soda Pop - Nails ♥

Hey guys!
Today's post is going to be a bit different to what I usually post. It is in the brackets of beauty but not for you face but for your nails.
Anyone who knows me knows I used be obsessed with doing my nails on a weekly basis but since starting college I had to stop wearing it.
I was clearing out some of my old polishes the other day and was pairing a couple up to create some pretty nail looks.

The two polishes I used for this look are both from Rimmel.

On the left we have Rimmel London Cocktail Colour in a Flash - 120 Shirley Temple - £3.99 & on the right we have Rimmel London 60 seconds - 403 Orgasam - Rita Ora Collection - £2.99.

120 Shirley Temple is a really pretty glitter colour. It can be used to put over a base colour like I have for this look or you can wear it only and build it up for 3-4 coats for an opaque finish. I however am lazy as hell and couldn't be bothered to keep applying layers on layers and waiting for them to dry in between coats.
I used 403 Orgasam as a base. Can we just take in the name of this polish please. I have never understood calling a product name like that but the colour is pretty so who cares about the name haha! Due to this being a 60 second drying polish I knew It wouldn't take me more than 10 minutes to do all my nails. I did two coats of 403 Orgasam and 1 coat of 120 Shirley Temple.

This was the overall look. The glitter looks amazing when the sun hits it.
This look is perfect for summer.

Baking with Sophie & Jess! - Chocolate Orange Soda Cupcakes ♥

Hey guys!
I hope you are all doing well!
Today's post is going to be about some cupcakes that me and Jess made on Monday.

Last time she was making cupcakes she was looking on the internet for other random things that people make cake out of and we found something called a soda cake. If you are unfamiliar with what soda is, it is the american equivalent to pop or a fizzy drink. We saw some different ones that people has done and decided that none of them seemed like they would taste good until we got to one where someone had used an orange fizzy drink.
Jess said she wanted to try and make one so that's what we did!

There are only three ingredients you are going to need for this recipe:
A box chocolate cake mix (Me and Jess used Betty Crocker devil chocolate cake)
Can of pop (Me and Jess used Orange Fanta)

Betty Crocker Devil Chocolate Fudge Icing (You can also make your own icing if you wish)

1. The first thing you need to do is preheat the oven to the temperature that is stated on the back on the box. We were using a gas oven so we put it on gas mark 4.

2. Empty your cake mixture into a bowl and add your can of soda

3. Mix well until you can see that both of the wet and dry ingredients have come together and that there are no lumps

DO NOT PUT ANY OF THE EGG, WATER OR OIL THAT IS STATED ON THE BACK ON THE BOX TO USE ELSE YOU WILL WRECK YOUR CAKE!
The soda as all the elements that the cakes need to help bake them!

4. Place into two circle cake trays if you are making a huge cake or if you are doing cupcakes place then into some paper cases. We got about 22 cakes from this batch but you could get round 24

5. Place into the oven and watch them rise!
If you are unsure if your cakes are cooked all the way through stick a fork, toothpick or skewer into the centre of the cake and if the utensil comes out clean the cake is ready!

6.Leave on the side to cool down for a while. You don't want to be placing icing on hot cake else it will just melt and look a mess!

7.Add you chosen icing, Either store brought or home made. At this point you can either spread the icing on or if you want them look professional like jess did you can use a piping bag and a nozzle and make one hell of  beautiful pattern on the top!

8. (Optional) You can now add your decorations to the top of your cake/cupcakes. Me and jess went with small edible golden balls as you can see from the picture below

9. Make a cup of tea or hot beverage of your choice and...

 10. ENJOY!

I hope you guys liked this post, I thought it was something different and my friend Jess makes the best cupcakes and cakes so I thought I would share with you how we made one of the cakes
These turned out really good even thought we were a bit sceptical that they would turn out rubbish. The only hiccup we has it that by the time was up that the box recommended the bottoms were still squishy and not a cake texture. However we just put them in for a bit longer and they were okay once that had cooled! You can't really taste a lot of orange from this cake which is what I was expecting but they still taste good!

This is how I got my cupcakes home. I strapped them into my car seat with the seat belt and took them on a little drive :)

I hope you are having a good week!

Gradient Sunset Nail Tutorial ♥

Hey Guys!
Many of you will not know this but i love doing my nails and experimenting with new designs and colours.
Recently i have been loving the gradient look and with it sort of being the summer time i thought it would be a great idea to do a little nail tutorial which you guys can do yourself or to your friends. There are many tutorials on YouTube which shows you how to add a palm tree or little birds onto this design but for me i just wanted it to be plain, simple and bright!
So i hope you enjoy my step by step picture tutorial to help you achieve this vibrant look!
I first started off with 3 beautiful colours. A red, yellow and bubblegum pink!
Now you can use any colours that your guys want but due to me watching the 'sunset' look i decided upon these.
The colours from left to right: ELF Smokin' Hot, NYC Lexington Yellow, ELF Gum Pink.
These colours really did blend well together creating the contract between the colours.
The next thing you will be needing is a cosmetic make up wedge sponge, you can get these rather cheap if you get them from the right places. I got mine from ELF while on a little bit of a spending spree in the past and have never used them for makeup as ive always used a brush. You get 8 of them online for £1.50 from ELF which i feel is a bargain!
The next thing i did was apply these colours onto the sponge in stripes, starting with the yellow and then pink followed finally by the red it should look something like this
Now you have your colours ready get your nail prepared for the colours with a base case! (For this mini tutorial im just going to used a fake nail so you can really see the end results) If you want to save some time paint the base before you start.
If your do end up using sheer colours i would add a base coat of white to enhance the colour. I however didn't do this as the colours i have very bold and do not need any help enhancing.
Time to apply the colours from the sponge into your nail!
You're going to do this by placing the sponge on your nail directly and start to rock the sponge over your nail to allow the colour to transfer. Once you have done this it should look something like this!
As you can see the colours have blended really well and you can fully see where one colour should start and end.
Next your going to allow this to full dry and then add a top coat to seal in the design! For this I used a matte topcoat.
or you could give the Sally Hansen super shine top coat if you're looking for that shiny nail look (or any other topcoat of your choice) !
Once applied it should look something like this (all adding a top coat will really do is hold your polish design for longer and blend the colours together more evenly!
And that is it!

Simple right? I told you but would be, even though the summer time isn't really the classic summer time here in England doesn't mean you nails can't be bright and colourful!
I hope you enjoyed this little tutorial I hope to do more in the future for you guys if you liked them!
Have a good day/night
 Take care x
